The Mumbai metro project is being implemented by the Mumbai Metropolitan Development Authority (MMRDA). Once fully operational, the Mumbai metro will provide citizens with seamless, affordable, and comprehensive connectivity solutions. The Mumbai metro is an ambitious and massive infrastructure project of the Maharashtra Government. On the second day (January 21) it rose to 1,29,476 passengers, and on the third day (January 22), it recorded 1,33,516 passengers. According to the data shared by the Mumbai Metro officials, On the first day (January 20), there were 84,929 passengers who boarded the metro from the new lines. Between January 20 to January 22, the newly inaugurated metro lines 2A and 7 have attracted 3, 47, 921 passengers in total. Last week two lines of the Mumbai metro were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He further talked about the operationalization of this 300 km metro network and that the work on Line 3 of the Mumbai metro will begin soon. The government plans to mitigate the traffic-related issues in the city by laying out this extensive metro network. The plan is to complete this metro line network in the next 1.5 to 2 years. He indicated that a nearly 300 km network of metro lines would be laid in Mumbai City. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, while addressing the visitors during a cultural festival, indicated the State Government's plans. January 2023: 300 km of Metro Network in the next two years This launch has also uplifted the nearby regions for real estate, residential developments and commercial activities. The success of this metro connectivity has eased the load on the suburban local train networks. Earlier, people used to get off at Andheri Station and take the local train to reach western suburbs like Dahisar and Goregaon. The Metro 1 stations are linked with the western railways at Andheri station and the suburban central railways at Ghatkopar station. Over 11 lakh people have travelled on these lines within ten days of its inauguration. This will result in a better frequency of the metro service on the route, majorly during rush hours.Īdditionally, the recent launch of the 2A and 7 lines second phase has received a positive response. The metro will now move with more capacity and make 18 additional trips per day. The MMRDA, or Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, recently stated that the Mumbai Metro Line 1 will now run at an increased speed of 80 kmph, up from 65 kmph.
